Sometimes your biggest failure could be your biggest success. The aim was to produce a completely spherical, highly mirrored object that would disappear into its surroundings. Instead it does the opposite and is an ultra visible, highly reflective object referencing space helmets and disco balls. One of the most recognisable of all Tom Dixon designs.
Featuring a direction downward light and available in chrome or gold, the Mirror Ball always attracts the right kind of attention.
Blown like bubble gum into a mould, these plastic spheres are metalized internally to give the mirrored finish. This internal metallic design focuses the brightness from the bulb, projecting a soft, broad beam of light.
The external highly reflective surface has the added benefit of providing further character to an interior space.
Process
Formed using a technically advanced process of vacuum metallisation. The process involves vaporising a small amount of pure metal at a very high temperature and then sucking it on to a surface by applying an electrical charge.
Cleaning Instructions
Clean with a soft dry cloth only. Do not use polishing agents, water or abrasive materials when cleaning. Always switch off the electricity supply before cleaning. Country of origin Germany
